Getting Our "Hands On" Dirty at Cincinnati State

News

A Dirty Job Students Are Happy To Do

Our grounds crew does a terrific job of keeping the campus beautiful, but they don’t do every single bit of the work. Last week, an evening class of horticulture students supervised by Kelly Wanstrath (standing, above) from the grounds crew planted two of the beds near the ATLC. It’s a chore that a lot of us have been doing — or perhaps should have been doing — in recent days. If the pattern of recent years continues, we’ll all get our plants in just in time for the summer drought.

Cincinnati State Student Athlete Moves On to Miami University

Departing sophomore Kindsay Brandt has signed a letter of intent to play basketball at Miami University (Ohio) next season.

Coming to Cincinnati State after a successful high school career at Lakota West, Brandt emerged as a leader in her sophomore season under head coach Sonya Beeler. Brandt averaged 11.5 points, 6 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 3.25 steals while leading the Surge to a 25-7 overall record. She scored her collegiate career high 24 points in a Nov. 9 win against the University of Pikeville. Brandt also led the team in minutes played, averaging 36.5 minutes per game.

Brandt earned OCCAC “Player of the Week” honors in January. At the conclusion of the season, Brandt was named to the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference 2nd Team and won the team’s “Unsung Hero” award.
